Microfibre Suede Two-Tier Boxes

Two-tier boxes in microfibre suede, made to your dimensions and your logo. Suede on both tiers keeps the tone consistent between a tray that is seen closed and a compartment that is only seen open. Velvet in the same build reads as two shades because the light hits them differently.

What this construction is

A two-tier box has a removable upper tray sitting above a lower compartment, so a set is shown in layers rather than crowded onto one surface. Lifting the top tray is the second half of the reveal.

Microfibre suede on this construction, specifically

Suede on both tiers keeps the tone consistent between a tray that is seen closed and a compartment that is only seen open. Velvet in the same build reads as two shades because the light hits them differently.

Getting the fit right

The upper tray needs a finger recess or a ribbon pull, and the lower compartment has to be deep enough that the tray does not sit on the pieces below it. Both are easy to get wrong on a drawing and obvious on a sample.

The mistake to avoid

A tray with nothing to lift it by is the standard fault. Customers end up tipping the box out, which is the opposite of what a two-tier box is for.

Where it is used

Bridal and gift sets, watch-and-strap sets, and any programme where a customer receives several pieces that should not be seen all at once.

Why microfibre suede

Microfibre suede is a woven synthetic with a short, dense nap. It has the hand of real suede without the shading and water-marking that real suede brings, and it does not shed onto a polished piece.

Putting your logo on microfibre suede

Suede takes a hot-stamped or blind-debossed logo cleanly, because the nap compresses and holds the impression. Fine serifs need a slightly heavier die than they would on board, or the nap springs back and softens the edge.

Cutting the interior in microfibre suede

Inserts are cut a fraction under size on each face; the pile closes the gap and grips the piece without a visible squeeze.

Brush with the nap, never against it. Marks from a fingernail lift with a soft brush. It does not craze or crack with age.

Frequently asked questions

Is microfibre suede a good choice for a two-tier box?

Suede on both tiers keeps the tone consistent between a tray that is seen closed and a compartment that is only seen open. Velvet in the same build reads as two shades because the light hits them differently.

How does microfibre suede wear on this construction?

Brush with the nap, never against it. Marks from a fingernail lift with a soft brush. It does not craze or crack with age.

Can it be made in our colour?

Yes — the microfibre suede is matched to a Pantone reference or a physical swatch, and confirmed on a sample.

What logo methods suit microfibre suede?

Suede takes a hot-stamped or blind-debossed logo cleanly, because the nap compresses and holds the impression. Fine serifs need a slightly heavier die than they would on board, or the nap springs back and softens the edge.

Can I see it before ordering?

Yes. A physical pre-production sample is made to your specification and the bulk run is held to the sample you approve.
