Leatherette Two-Tier Boxes

Two-tier boxes in leatherette (pu), made to your dimensions and your logo. A leatherette upper tray survives being lifted in and out daily, which is where a fabric tray wears first — at the finger recess. For a set box a customer opens often, this is the tray material.

What this construction is

A two-tier box has a removable upper tray sitting above a lower compartment, so a set is shown in layers rather than crowded onto one surface. Lifting the top tray is the second half of the reveal.

Leatherette (PU) on this construction, specifically

A leatherette upper tray survives being lifted in and out daily, which is where a fabric tray wears first — at the finger recess. For a set box a customer opens often, this is the tray material.

Getting the fit right

The upper tray needs a finger recess or a ribbon pull, and the lower compartment has to be deep enough that the tray does not sit on the pieces below it. Both are easy to get wrong on a drawing and obvious on a sample.

The mistake to avoid

A tray with nothing to lift it by is the standard fault. Customers end up tipping the box out, which is the opposite of what a two-tier box is for.

Where it is used

Bridal and gift sets, watch-and-strap sets, and any programme where a customer receives several pieces that should not be seen all at once.

Why leatherette (pu)

Leatherette is a polyurethane skin over a woven backing. It gives the grain and the weight of leather at a consistent colour, batch to batch — which matters when a jeweller is reordering a house box for years.

Putting your logo on leatherette (pu)

Leatherette is the most forgiving surface for a logo. Hot-stamp, blind deboss and metal plate all sit well on it, and a fine typeface holds its detail.

Cutting the interior in leatherette (pu)

The skin is wrapped over a rigid shell, so corners stay square and the lid closes on a defined line rather than a soft one.

Wipe with a barely damp cloth. Avoid solvent cleaners, which can lift the surface.
