Getting the fit right
Wall thickness and the lid fit are set together — a rolled wall flexes slightly, so a lid that fits a rigid box will be either tight or loose on a tube. The fit is confirmed on a physical sample, always.

A cylinder rolls. Without a flat, a foot or a base pad it will not stay where it is put on a counter, and that is a design decision rather than something to solve later with a stand.

The interior is a separate lined tray dropped into the carcass, so the lining material is chosen independently of the shell.
