Lacquered Wood Multi-Compartment Boxes

Multi-compartment boxes in lacquered wood, made to your dimensions and your logo. A rigid shell lets the dividers be part of the structure rather than an insert dropped in, so the compartments cannot shift. For a bridal set box that will be kept, this is the construction.

What this construction is

A multi-compartment box divides one interior into separate seats, so a set travels and presents together without the pieces touching each other. It is the difference between a set box and a box with several things loose in it.

Lacquered wood on this construction, specifically

A rigid shell lets the dividers be part of the structure rather than an insert dropped in, so the compartments cannot shift. For a bridal set box that will be kept, this is the construction.

Getting the fit right

Divider height decides whether it works. Too low and a chain lifts over into the next compartment; too high and the pieces sit in wells and cannot be lifted out with one hand.

The mistake to avoid

Sizing every compartment the same is the standard error. A set is rarely made of equal pieces, and equal compartments mean one piece is held and the others rattle.

Where it is used

Bridal and gift sets, travel cases, and retail where a customer buys three pieces that will be worn together.

Why lacquered wood

A wood carcass built up in layers of lacquer and polished back to a piano finish. This is the heaviest and most formal thing we make.

Putting your logo on lacquered wood

Lacquer is engraved, or carries an inlaid metal plate. Foil does not bond reliably to a polished lacquer surface.

Cutting the interior in lacquered wood

The interior is a separate lined tray dropped into the carcass, so the lining material is chosen independently of the shell.

Dust with a dry microfibre cloth. Polish only with a product made for lacquer.
