Pure white against off-white
A true white is achievable in printed board and in coated materials; in a dyed textile it usually lands slightly warm or slightly grey. That is not a defect, it is what dye does to fibre.
Most brands are better served by a deliberate off-white — ivory, chalk, oyster — which is repeatable across materials and does not look dirty as it ages.
What it shows
Everything. Hand oils, denim transfer, the mark of a shelf edge. On an open counter a white box has a working life measured in weeks rather than years.

Yellowing
White materials yellow with light and age, and they do it unevenly if half the box is in a window. A reorder in two years will not match a box that has been on display since — that is a fact of the colour, not of the run.
Matching it across a set
A box, a bag and a card in the same colour are three different materials taking the same dye or ink, and they will not match by number. They are matched by eye, and that only works if they are made in one run. Ordering them separately is the single most common reason a set looks slightly wrong.
