What is a custom jewellery box?
A custom jewellery box is a presentation or packaging box made to a jeweller's own specification rather than bought from stock — sized to the specific piece, finished in chosen materials and colours, and carrying the jeweller's logo. Because it is made to order, the fit of the insert, the lining and the feel of the lid are decided by the brand.
For a jeweller, the box is the first thing the customer touches and the last thing they keep. It protects the piece, holds it in place, and tells the customer what the piece is worth before the lid is even opened.
Types of jewellery boxes we make
Chung Ngai makes the full range of jewellery packaging to order:
- Ring boxes — a fitted slot that holds the ring upright, for retail, proposals and weddings.
- Necklace & pendant boxes — longer or padded forms that lay a chain flat without tangling.
- Bracelet & bangle boxes — round or cushioned inserts that keep a bangle in shape.
- Earring & stud boxes — slotted or flapped inserts that hold pairs neatly.
- Set boxes — one box presenting a matching ring, necklace and earrings together.
- Travel cases & rolls — portable cases that protect several pieces at once.
Materials & finishes
The material sets the feeling of the box the moment it is picked up:
- Velvet — deep and soft, the classic fine-jewellery feel.
- Leatherette (PU) — modern, clean and hard-wearing, in a grain and colour you choose.
- Lacquered wood — a premium, keepsake shell, hand-sprayed to a mirror finish.
- Microfibre suede — a warm matte touch that photographs beautifully for e-commerce.
- Rigid board — structured and light, ideal for retail and shipping.
You choose the finishing: a hot-stamped or debossed logo in gold, silver or blind; a magnetic closure with a quiet snap; a fitted insert cut to hold the piece still; and a lining colour matched to your brand.
Made to your brand
Every Chung Ngai box is built to your brief: your size, your lining, your colour, your logo. You send the piece dimensions and your brand details; we recommend the structure and materials, then make a sample for you to hold before anything goes to bulk.
Two things our clients say matter most are built into how we work: the bulk order matches the sample you approve, and there is no minimum forcing you to over-order.
Minimum order quantity (MOQ)
There is no single fixed minimum. The right quantity depends on the box — its structure, materials and whether it needs its own tooling. For fully custom jewellery boxes, quantities are agreed per project rather than dictated as a blanket factory rule, so a smaller independent brand is not pushed to buy stock it does not need.
How ordering works
The path from first message to finished box is simple:
- 1. Brief — you share the piece size, materials, colours, logo artwork and target quantity.
- 2. Sample — we make a physical sample, usually within about 7–10 days of confirming the specification.
- 3. Pre-production approval — you approve a pre-production sample; the bulk is held to it.
- 4. Production — mass production usually runs about 20–30 days after approval.
- 5. Ship — we pack and ship, with the full landed cost quoted up front.
Why Chung Ngai
Chung Ngai is a family-run maker of jewellery and watch packaging, working from Hong Kong and southern China since 1971 — now in our second generation. We have stood behind every order for over fifty years and met jewellers face to face at international fairs across five continents.
For you that means a real maker you can see and speak to, boxes assembled and checked by hand, one transparent all-in quote, and production that matches the sample you approved. In a trade where the box increasingly does the selling, that reliability is what keeps jewellers coming back.
