Rope and cord handles
Knotted or crimped through eyelets, and the most durable option for a bag that will be carried any distance. Cotton rope reads soft and traditional; a fine twisted cord reads formal.
The failure point is the eyelet, not the rope. A reinforced patch behind it is the difference between a bag that survives and one that tears at the top.
Ribbon handles
Flat ribbon threaded or glued in, and the choice where the handle is meant to be part of the design rather than a function. It is less strong than rope under a sharp load.
Ribbon in a brand colour is one of the cheapest ways to make a plain bag look specified rather than bought.
Die-cut and folded handles
A hole cut into a reinforced top fold, with no separate handle at all. It is the cleanest look, it ships flat and it is the cheapest, and it is only suitable for a light bag.
For one small jewellery box that is usually fine, and it suits a minimal brand well.
Matching the bag to the box
A bag and a box in the same colour from different suppliers rarely match, because paper and wrapped board take colour differently. Ordering them in one run and matching by eye across the two materials is what makes a set look like a set.
Finishes
Matte lamination hides handling marks; gloss shows them but lifts colour. Soft-touch feels expensive and scuffs. On a bag that will be reused, matte is the safer specification.

Frequently asked questions
Which handle is strongest?
Rope through reinforced eyelets. The eyelet is the failure point, not the rope, so the reinforcement matters more than the cord.
Will the bag match our box exactly?
Close, matched by eye. Paper and wrapped board take colour differently, so ordering them in one run is what keeps them together.
What finish lasts best?
Matte lamination. Gloss shows handling and soft-touch scuffs, which matters on a bag customers reuse.
Can handles be in our brand colour?
Yes — rope, cord and ribbon are all matched to a reference, and confirmed on the sample.
