Bags, Pouches and the Rest of the Set

A box that matches the bag it goes into reads as one brand. A box that nearly matches reads as two suppliers. That is the whole argument for ordering them together, and these are the decisions involved.

Why colour matching fails when ordered separately

Paper and board take colour differently from fabric and from leatherette. The same Pantone reference printed on a bag and applied to a box will not look identical unless both are matched to each other rather than to the number.

Ordering in one run lets us match the physical samples side by side. Ordering months apart, from different suppliers, is where the mismatch comes from.

Bag construction

Weight of board, handle type and base reinforcement are the three decisions. A rope handle reads more formal than a ribbon; a die-cut handle is the flattest and the most shippable.

Base reinforcement matters more than most buyers expect — a bag that holds a heavy box needs it, and a bag that sags once has lost the effect you paid for.

Pouches

A pouch protects a piece inside a bag, or replaces the box entirely for a lighter format. Microfibre suede and velvet are the usual materials, with a drawstring or a fold-over flap.

For pieces that travel, a pouch inside a rigid box is better than either alone.

Ribbon, cards and tissue

Ribbon can be printed or woven with your name. Lid cards and certificate cards are printed in the same run as the bag so the stock and the finish match.

These are the cheapest elements in the set and the ones customers notice when they are missing.

Frequently asked questions

Can bags be made in the same colour as the boxes?

Yes, and that is the reason to order them together — the two are matched to each other physically rather than to a number.

Do you make pouches as well as boxes?

Yes, in microfibre suede and velvet, with a drawstring or a fold-over flap.

Can ribbon carry our name?

Yes, printed or woven. Woven holds its colour better over time.

What is the most commonly forgotten item?

The lid card. It is the cheapest part of the set and the one that makes the inside of the box look finished.
