Blush, rose, dusty pink
These three words describe three different colours and clients use them interchangeably. Blush is pale and warm; rose has more saturation; dusty pink is greyed. The gap between them is wide enough that a brief without a physical reference is a coin toss.
What it does for the piece
Pink is a warm ground and it flatters rose gold particularly well — the two sit in the same family without matching, which is what makes the combination work. Against white metals it can read as slightly cheap, which is worth testing before committing a range to it.
Dye lots
Pale colours show lot variation more than dark ones, because there is less pigment to hide behind. Two runs of the same pink will be closer than two runs of the same black in absolute terms and look further apart on a shelf.
The way round it is to order the full quantity in one run. Where a repeat matters, we keep a retained swatch to match against.
Where it works
Contemporary and demi-fine brands, rose-gold ranges, and anything sold heavily through social media, where a pink box in a photograph does work that a neutral one does not. It is a deliberate choice rather than a safe one.
Matching it across a set
A box, a bag and a card in the same colour are three different materials taking the same dye or ink, and they will not match by number. They are matched by eye, and that only works if they are made in one run. Ordering them separately is the single most common reason a set looks slightly wrong.

Frequently asked questions
Will two orders of the same pink match?
Close, not identical, if they are different dye lots. Pale colours show lot variation most, so order the full quantity in one run.
What metal suits a pink box?
Rose gold, strongly. Against white metals pink can read cheap.
What is the difference between blush and rose?
Blush is pale and warm, rose is more saturated. They are different colours and the words are used interchangeably, which causes most of the errors.
Can you match a pink from a photograph?
Not reliably. Send a physical swatch or a Pantone reference.
