Tan Lacquer Jewellery Boxes

Tan lacquer boxes, made to your dimensions and your logo. Tan is not a lacquer colour — on a hard gloss shell it reads as beige plastic. A wood-grain or stained wood finish achieves what a tan lacquer brief is usually asking for.

Tan in lacquer, specifically

Tan is not a lacquer colour — on a hard gloss shell it reads as beige plastic. A wood-grain or stained wood finish achieves what a tan lacquer brief is usually asking for.

What tan does for the piece

A mid-toned warm ground that reads as leather whatever it is made of. It is quietly good for men's jewellery and watches, where a black box can look severe.

What tan shows

Almost nothing, and in hide it darkens where it is handled rather than marking. That patina is usually why it is chosen.

Which metals and stones tan suits

Yellow gold, warm stones, menswear and watches. Too warm and too low in contrast for diamonds and platinum.

Why lacquered wood

A wood carcass built up in layers of lacquer and polished back to a piano finish. This is the heaviest and most formal thing we make.

Putting your logo on lacquered wood

Lacquer is engraved, or carries an inlaid metal plate. Foil does not bond reliably to a polished lacquer surface.

Cutting the interior in lacquered wood

The interior is a separate lined tray dropped into the carcass, so the lining material is chosen independently of the shell.

Dust with a dry microfibre cloth. Polish only with a product made for lacquer.
