A round pillow suits a flexible piece. A rigid bangle or a wide cuff needs a C-cushion — a curved seat cut to the inner diameter — or it sits proud and the lid closes on the piece.

The mistake to avoid
The cushion must be cut to the inner diameter, not to the outer. A measurement taken across the outside of the bangle will produce a seat that is too large.
Worth knowing before you commit
A travel case is handled far more than a counter box, and the finish should be chosen for that. Saffiano takes it; a plain calf in the same colour will show the trip.

The coating means foil sits on the surface rather than sinking in, so a hot-stamp stays crisp. Deboss is shallower than on plain calf, by the nature of the finish.
