What a ring boxe has to do
A ring box holds a single ring upright in a fitted slot so the stone faces the customer when the lid opens. Two covered pads sit side by side with a cut between them; the ring is pushed down into the cut and the foam closes on the shank under its own spring.
Why Ébène Lacquer
A gloss black shell puts nothing between the eye and the stone. Against ivory or cream inside, a diamond reads at its brightest — which is why the highest-value single sales tend to be presented this way.
Getting the interior right
The cut is set to the widest shank the box has to take. A slot cut for a 1.5 mm band will not seat a 4 mm signet, and a slot cut for the signet lets the band lie over. Give both extremes if the box covers a range.
Where it belongs
Single significant sales — a solitaire, an anniversary piece, a retirement watch. It is a presentation box rather than a house box.
The mistake to avoid
The measurement most often left out is the height of the setting. A raised solitaire needs clearance under the lid, and without it the lid presses on the stone.
Worth knowing before you commit
Gloss lacquer shows fingerprints immediately. It is a box to hand over, not a box to stack behind the counter, and staff should be told to handle it by the edges.
Lacquered wood
A wood carcass built up in layers of lacquer and polished back to a piano finish. This is the heaviest and most formal thing we make.

What logo methods suit lacquered wood?
Lacquer is engraved, or carries an inlaid metal plate. Foil does not bond reliably to a polished lacquer surface.
