What a ring boxe has to do
A ring box holds a single ring upright in a fitted slot so the stone faces the customer when the lid opens. Two covered pads sit side by side with a cut between them; the ring is pushed down into the cut and the foam closes on the shank under its own spring.
Why Burgundy Calf
Burgundy calf with cream is the jeweller's red done properly — deep enough to read as heritage rather than as a catalogue box.
Getting the interior right
The cut is set to the widest shank the box has to take. A slot cut for a 1.5 mm band will not seat a 4 mm signet, and a slot cut for the signet lets the band lie over. Give both extremes if the box covers a range.
Where it belongs
Traditional counters and any jeweller replacing a generic red box.
The mistake to avoid
The measurement most often left out is the height of the setting. A raised solitaire needs clearance under the lid, and without it the lid presses on the stone.
Worth knowing before you commit
Red is the most copied colour in this trade. If your counter has always been red, the difference has to come from the material and the logo, not from the colour.
Leather
Real leather has variation in it — a slight difference in grain and in depth of colour from hide to hide. That is the point of it, and it is also the thing to decide before you commit to a house box.

| Logo artwork | Vector where possible, for the cleanest die or screen |
Frequently asked questions
Can the Burgundy Calf series be made in a different colour?
Yes. The colour shown is the standard for the series; exterior, lining and stitching are all specified per order. Send a Pantone reference or a swatch and we match to it, then confirm on a sample.
What logo methods suit leather?
Leather holds a deep blind deboss beautifully and takes foil well, though foil on a heavily grained hide will break slightly along the grain — usually read as character rather than fault.
What do you need to make a ring boxe?
The widest shank width, the height from the base of the shank to the top of the setting, and whether the box has to take a range or a single width.
Can I see it before ordering?
Yes. A physical pre-production sample is made to your specification and the bulk run is held to the sample you approve.
